Michael Jackson - Thriller
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Although this is not the whole 13 minute song this supposedly one of the best music videos of all time. I think that is up to personal opinion, it’s alright.
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
I love the guitar rift in this song and also it has some very old graphics in the video. What a leap forward the video industry has had since this was made!
Nina Simone - Feeling Good
Nina Simone - Feeling Good
I found this video on you tube, it was a project done by a graphic design student, who was set a brief just to make a music video using only letter faces. It quite nice, and I like the song.
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever
This is I believe one of the first ever music videos ever made, so this is what started it all off! Filmed on the 30th January 1967 in Knoll Park in Sevenoaks, directed by Peter Goldman.
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
I had to put this music video in, as I believe that it is the first music video I ever saw many years ago!
"Empire State of Mind" Jay-Z | Alicia Keys
Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z / Alicia Keys
The use of photos that are dropped in with the beat of this song works well, I’ve learnt recently how hard it is to get a video to work with the beat of the song. Another skill I would like to learn how to do well.
B.O.B - Nothing On You (feat Bruno Mars)
B.O.B - Nothing On You (feat Bruno Mars)
I like the collage effect used in this video.
Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
I’m not a fan of the song but the video contains the sort of graphics/animation that I’m interested in learning. What I like about this music video is the interaction between the graphics and the video footage.
Some music videos liked by Sub Rosa
The Maccabees - Latchmere
Bloc Party - I Still Remember
The Maccabees - Toothpaste Kisses
Radiohead - The National Anthem
A Ha Take on me
This 1985 music video from A Ha (Take On Me) uses illustration combined with video footage. I’m interested in learning how to combine these things together in a film.

The Bourne Supremacy Vs James Bond's Quantum of Solace
I thought that it would be good to compare the flow of the films by looking at a car chase from each.

Best of 16th Raindance Film Festival Shorts
This is a bizarre little animation, about and loosing his virginity. i liked the animation style and the way in which the drawing style changes from line drawing to chalk style when the story line changes. it's a bit twisted and the story does make me think about how people would feel about moments in their lives like this one in the future.
Toyland - Jochen Alexander Freydank
I've actually seen this short before when i visited Berlin last year, at the Bahnhof. i like this short because the story shows a different element to my normal thoughts about the Nazi's rounding up the Jewish and sending them off to concentration camps. before this i didn't imagine how hard it was to try and explain to a child what was going on, and how hard it would be for them. definitely interesting seeing it from that perspective.

What is Viscom? Introduction
So the area that i want to explore more for this module is video, and possibly editing in particular. i have been doing video elective this term and also had to use video in my last module communication technology. by far this was an area that i enjoyed the most from all the things i have learnt and new to me this year. i found myself sat in the computer suites for ages engrossed in what i was doing. so how do i go about this for this module? david advised me just review some films and look at them from a editing perspective.
